Re-routed!

Hello all!

We have officially re-routed our path due to the cold winter storm rolling through the northwest.

The original plan was to travel through the Grand Canyon from Flagstaff, AZ, then proceed north. We wanted to drive through Utah and Idaho, following with the loop through Oregon and hit Washington.

I had been watching the weather over the past few days. Due to that fact, it did not surprise me that we would need to re-route. I am so glad that I was able to plan short days towards the end of our trip, anticipating issues due to snow.

Here is the reason why we are on a crazy new route...

Shaina and I were both using our two smart phones to look up new plans, find 24, 36, and 48 hour forecasts... We were desperately trying to find a good and safe route to reach Washington.

Michael was driving at the time. We were heading towards Las Vegas to see the famous strip. This was the first revision on the route. Instead of continuing on north, through the Grand Canyon, we doubled back down to Flagstaff and carried on through I-40 west.

I noticed the mile marker read "1" as Michael asked where the boarder from Arizona into Nevada was... I explained he would see it any moment. We were all prepped to snap a shot of the upcoming border...

Then we read.. "Welcome to California!"

Whatttttttttt?!

Apparently while Shaina and I had our heads turned towards our phones and plans, we missed Michael missing the exit off I-40 West towards Las Vegas! Hahahaha...

We agreed that this is a sign. Shaina and I had just been debating about taking I-5 through California. We are currently enroute through this beautiful state ;) we are due to avoid most snow by traveling I-5. We may run into issue towards Oregon, but we are hoping to be in the location closer to Wednesday. They anticipate this will be the time the snow storm will be more inland.

Crossing fingers to finish off this trip safely!

We are currently located in Los Angeles, CA! The night -time weather is currently 42 degrees. No snow in sight.

We are discussing Hollywood, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, and the Red Wood Forest ;) The next two days in California are going to be exciting!
